This is what happens when you disconnect your brain. See that glossy spot? See the satin rest of it?
I started a new gallon of poly just as I was about done with the second coat and forgot to stir it. Now I've got a glossy area in the middle of my satin floor. Grrr!
I'll be spending some quality time on my hands and knees with the sander for this little brain fart.

Bummer! You know, in the picture it looks okay. I can sort of see it, but not so much.
A long time saying amongst the carpenters out there when they didn't feel like fixing a little goof-up is "it looks good from my house." I hope that most of them were joking.
But, honestly, your floor looks good from here. I wonder if it will fade down a little with time and even out some? Sanding sounds rough. Hard to get a spot in the middle to blend.
Did I tell you how great it looks? I'm impressed that you took it on.
Good luck!
Tim
That's a sign you need a break!
I would probably leave like it is. But then I probably wouldn't have made it that far anyway.
And this is why brains should never fart! I know you'll get it fixed so it looks awesome. No worries. Those floors in that house are crying out for an oval braided homespun rag rung now!
From 170 miles, it looks awesome. Yep, if it was my floor, I'd a left it, figuring the cats would eventually "satin" it anyway.
