Thrifting

I haven't been to the thrift store all week. Something about a dozen ridiculous papers looming overhead. Anyway, I turned in the last one yesterday and drove immediately to the thrift store where I was rewarded with all kinds of goodies. My total bill was $6.75 excluding tax.

9-1/2 yards of this fabric for 50 cents a yard. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with 9-1/2 yards of this, but I've got lots to play with. Hey! I could make curtains for the kitchen or something.

An embroidered piece with tatting around the edge, an old scissor keeper, and a length of trim.

Various lengths of eyelet and lace trims.

A nice piece of wool fabric and blue calico

Zippers. The one on the left with the orange tag says 'TG&Y'. Anybody remember TG&Y?

I gotta come shop your thrift store.

There was a TG&Y in Sapulpa until just a few years ago. The story goes that the name was up for grabs, and the man in Sap bought it, the logo, and opened a store. After a few years, he closed... According to local rumor, he didn't incorporate, but ran the business as a sole prop. He closed just a few years into a lengthy lease, and lost all his personal property when the landlord sued.

So, now ya know!

Hi Aunt Jo,
Isn't thrifting just the most fun, you get to come home with lots of good stuff for not much money. I made Kitchen curtains a few weeks back with green check from the thrift. love it.
Received my ever so cute needle book that you made, I just love it, so well made and so pretty. I put it right by my chair in my basket.

Hi beemoosie! Thanks for visiting.

Annie, you definitely need to come thrifting with me. I can faintly remember TG&Y when I was growing up.

NancyJo, I'm so glad it arrived and that you're happy with it.
