Happy Independence Day

Of course I'm a day late. I had way too many irons in the fire yesterday.

The day started with Mom coming over to help do up a dozen jars of peach jam. This is a lot darker than the other, but just as yummy.

Mom and Annie and her family came over and ate with us. After dinner we went out on the back patio and visited in the rain. I don't know anyone that wasn't wet when we got done. I enjoyed it, even the being soggy part. After Annie and crew left we went and watched the fireworks. Nothing too exciting this year. Low key and relaxed, just the way I like it.

I hope each of you had a wonderful Independence Day.

Introducing my new friend

This is Bucktooth Annie. She's my newest friend and confidant. I bought her from T.J. (Humble Origins) over in her Etsy shop.

Poor BTA is currently sitting in a little thrift store chair on the buffet, safely out of reach of an over zealous cat. I came in earlier and she (the cat) had BTA by one leg carrying her through the house. What a way to be treated in a new home.

I promise to do better.

Now let's see how long it takes TJ to figure out it was me. :)

Ringing in the New Year

Happy New Year to all of my blogging friends.

We celebrated at home with family last night. Good food, board games, and lots of laughs.

My sister sat her egg nog on the washer while she took clothes out of the dryer and Mr. Fuzz snuck a drink.

Doesn't he look satisfied with himself?

This morning I woke up bright and early (4:30) to a calf bawling outside my bedroom window. Huh? A calf? Yep, right in the middle of good old Weatherford. I jumped up, threw on my housecoat, and headed outside to see what was going on.

Poor baby! A little bitty black calf was standing out of the wind, bawling for his mama, and when I came around the corner he took off. So I did the neighborly thing and called the police. I didn't want him to get hit by a car.

We nearly had him, but then a sweet young police officer tripped on his own feet, scared the calf and he took off again.

By 7:30 the police still didn't have him caught and I was tired of flapping around in my housecoat in the cold North wind so I came in the house.

At one point we had four police cars, a sherriff's department car, and Fire & Rescue on the side and front streets by my house, all with lights flashing and at least one door standing open. It looked really bad.

The last time I saw the calf he was headed West at a dead run.

By noon all of the cars were gone. I wonder if they caught him?

Merry Christmas!

I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

My blessings are many this year and I am so glad that I can count each of you as one of my blessings. Thank you for your friendship.

The mailman brought me gifts

Annie contacted me earlier in the week wanting my address. She said she'd found a doo-dad and thought of me. Awe!

Today, the mailman brought my doo-dad and I love it. Thank you so much Annie!

How cute is that? It's a tiny little pincushion to be worn on the finger or thumb. Genius!

Please ignore the wedding band that appears to be cutting my finger in half. I might have had a bit too much salt yesterday.

I might as well warn you now. This is going to be a multi-post kind of day. I've got tons to talk about.

An author among us

Imagine my surprise, I'm reading Small Town Living and spy a name that looks very familiar. It's Sue from Country Pleasures.

Sue has written a delightful article and I encourage everyone to run over and read it. Small Town Living is a pleasure to read, but when you 'know' one of the contributing authors, it's even better.
