Oklahoma in my laundry

When DH put these on last night at 8PM they were brilliantly white. So white they made your eyes water.

This morning, they're a lovely terra cotta color. Good old Oklahoma dirt color. How they got in this shape involves a 15 foot hole, a 12 inch water pipe, a geiser, the hours between 10PM and 2AM, and a striptease in the backyard. I dunno, I was asleep.

This stuff has invaded my laundry. I don't care for it and I can't seem to get rid of it. It stains anything within it's grubby reach. I've bleached, pre-soaked, and still it has it's death-grip on my husband's socks.

I need a wiser woman to tell me how to get Oklahoma out of my laundry. That, or where can I buy socks by the gross?

Non-wiser woman says that he can still wear them stained!
I've lived here 40+ years and have just come to face the fact that reddirt stains don't come out and we just have to learn to live with them.
I've also learned to buy STARTER-brand socks at wal*mart. They're gray and don't show the stains near as bad!
Reddirt is also the reason I didn't put carpet in my new house....and my tile is terracotta color. Yep...I've gotta stay here for awhile and have to learn to adapt.

I wish I could help you but I can't get it out either. Hope he got everything fixed. Does not sound like fun that late at night.

I'll take your advice and he can just wear them stained. I'll keep a couple of good pair back in my drawer for the times he actually needs white socks.

This dirt beats anything I've ever seen. Would you believe I have light grey carpet in my living/dining rooms. I hate it. The minute we get ready to remodel those two rooms that carpet will be ripped out. Besides, I really love my hardwood floors.

That is some tough dirt! My hubbie is a mechanic and I thought my laundry was bad. I feel for you. I always keep an emergency stash of socks and a t-shirts for when he has to dress up. Joyce in Iowa

You might try white vinegar, if that doesn't work, I say he'll have to live with them and save back a few good pair for Sunday! lol
